salesforceCRM Insights (Salesforce) — Beta

Context from your Salesforce, surfaced at the moment of the scan.

Overview

CRM Insights pulls live data from your Salesforce org and surfaces it directly on the Create Lead and View Lead pages in the Popl mobile app, automatically, within seconds of scanning a badge.

When your rep scans a lead at an event, Popl checks whether that person or their company already exists in your Salesforce. If it does, the CRM Insights button is enabled on the Create Lead page showing a preview of what was found: whether they are a current customer, an open opportunity, a lost opportunity, or an existing lead. Tapping the button opens the full details including deal stage, opportunity value, previous interactions, and more.

The CRM Insights button also appears on the View Lead page, below the Notes field, where you can tap to open the modal or retry the lookup if no insights were previously found.

Beta notice: CRM Insights is currently in Beta. Functionality, data display, and behavior may evolve based on feedback. Please share any issues or suggestions with your Popl account team.

Requirements

CRM Insights is available to ELC (Event Lead Capture) team users with a native Salesforce integration connected to Popl.

The native Salesforce integration can be connected at the full team level, subteam level, or campaign level. CRM Insights works regardless of which level your integration is connected at. You also do not need to be actively syncing leads through the integration for CRM Insights to work.

If your Salesforce integration is not yet set up, see the Salesforce Integration guidearrow-up-right to get connected first.

CRM Insights does not appear for DBC users, non-team users, or ELC teams without a native Salesforce connection.

CRM Insights is automatically enabled for any ELC team with a native Salesforce connection. If your team does not want it active, it can be turned off by your admin.

How It Works

When a rep scans a badge, Popl begins enriching the lead. Once an email address is identified from enrichment, Popl automatically triggers a lookup against your Salesforce org.

The result appears as a CRM Insights button on the Create Lead page, directly below the Notes field. The button resolves within a few seconds and shows a preview of what was found, or indicates that no matching records exist.

Tapping the button opens the full CRM Insights modal with complete details on the person and their company.

CRM Insights Button States

The button moves through the following states automatically:

Loading Appears as soon as lead enrichment begins. The button is faded and non-interactive while the lookup runs. Displayed text: "Loading CRM Insights..."

No Insights Found Displayed when enrichment completes but no matching Salesforce records are found for this person or their company. On the Create Lead page, the rep can dismiss it with the X icon. On the View Lead page, the rep can tap it to retry the lookup manually.

Insights Found The button becomes active and shows a preview of the insight found. Tap to open the full CRM Insights modal.

What the Preview Shows

The button displays one of the following previews depending on what was found in Salesforce:

  • Closed Customer

  • In-Progress Opportunity

  • Lost Opportunity

  • Lead (if no account associated with company found)

The CRM Insights Modal

Tapping the button when insights are found opens the CRM Insights modal. This is a read-only view. No edits are made to your Salesforce data from within Popl.

The modal is organized into three sections: AI Summary, Person Info, and Account & Opportunity Info.

AI Summary

The top of the modal displays an AI-generated summary of everything found about this person and their company. It pulls together person-level and account-level data, including any notes on record, into a single paragraph so the rep can get up to speed quickly without reading through each field individually.

Person Info

This section appears when Popl finds an exact email match to a Lead or Contact record in your Salesforce org.

For a matched Lead:

  • Type: Lead

  • Lead Name

  • Status

  • Owner

  • Created Date

  • Salesforce Campaigns: if none on record, shown as N/A. Tap "See All" to view the full list.

  • Notes: up to 2 notes shown, each expandable inline. Tap "See All Notes" to view the complete list. If no notes exist, this section is hidden entirely.

  • View in Salesforce: opens the record directly in Salesforce.

For a matched Contact:

  • Type: Contact

  • Contact Name

  • Owner

  • Created Date

  • Salesforce Campaigns (same behavior as Lead)

  • Notes (same behavior as Lead)

  • View in Salesforce

Note: If both a Lead and a Contact exist for the same email in Salesforce, Popl will display the Contact only. This is handled automatically.

Account & Opportunity Info

This section appears when Popl finds a domain match to a company in your Salesforce org. It displays below Person Info, or on its own if no exact person match is found.

The account section reflects the company's current lifecycle state. There are three possible states. If an account is a closed customer but also has an in-progress opportunity associated with it, Popl will display the closed customer state with details on the latest closed won opportunity.

In-Progress Opportunity (blue indicator)

  • Company Name

  • Lifecycle: In-Progress Opportunity

  • Opportunity Stage

  • Opportunity Amount

  • Account Owner

  • Opportunity Created Date

  • Notes from the opportunity (hidden if none)

  • View in Salesforce

Closed Customer (green indicator)

  • Company Name

  • Lifecycle: Closed Customer

  • Latest Closed Opportunity Name

  • Latest Opportunity Amount

  • Account Owner

  • First Close Date

  • Notes from the account (hidden if none)

  • View in Salesforce

Closed Lost (red indicator)

  • Company Name

  • Lifecycle: Closed Lost

  • Opportunity Amount

  • Account Owner

  • Opportunity Close/Lost Date

  • Notes from the opportunity (hidden if none)

  • View in Salesforce

Refreshing CRM Insights

The modal supports pull-to-refresh. Pulling down on the modal re-triggers the Salesforce lookup and updates the "Last Updated" timestamp shown in the modal header.

On the View Lead page, if no insights were previously found, the rep can tap the retry button to manually trigger the lookup again at any time.

What CRM Insights Does Not Do

CRM Insights is a read-only feature. It does not:

  • Write back to Salesforce. No edits to leads, contacts, opportunities, or notes can be made from within Popl.

  • Create new Salesforce records

  • Display data for HubSpot or non-Salesforce CRM integrations

  • Surface goal or campaign performance data from Salesforce

  • Appear on the web dashboard. Mobile only.
